Top Dog 4868 June 2002 Dec. 24 2002,00:48 1) Read the instructions CAREFULLY 2) Make sure you do not miss any steps out 3) Use a plain text editor like Editplus ( http://editplus.com ) PFE ( http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/cpaap/pfe/ ) or crimson editor ( http://www.crimsoneditor.com/ ) or even Notepad. 4) Do not use HTML/specialised text editors like MS Word, MS Wordpad, DreamWeaver, Front page etc 5) Always upload the .pm/.cfg/.cgi files as ASCII and check that the default settings of your FTP program do not force them to be binary. Check the CHMOD after uploading ( CHMOD 666 or 777 is good for all files except for ikonboard.cgi that should be CHMOD 755) 6) Upload images as Binary If you have other suggestions, please submit them. (http://chami.com) i find that its awesome. you can customize TONS, and preview server side scripts if you configure it right. Now officially the writer of 2 (and a half, I guess) hacks. Go me! I find CuteFTP very easy to use, always works, good for beginners (especially the 5.0 XP version) and its the perfect FTP for forum editing. As for editing forum files, I use Notepad. It is pretty good, though color coding would be more beneficial. A good, color coded, text and html editor, is the Textpad.
